What do I need/what to expect on the day of my tattoo?

Be sure to eat, hydrate and wear comfy clothing. Relax and let the artist do the work! Be sure to bring in a form of government or state ID showing you are 18 yrs or older.

Does it hurt when you get a tattoo?

Most would say the feeling is more irritating than painful. Each spot of the body feels different and each person's pain tolerance is different but nothing you should worry about.

Is it safe to get a tattoo?

All of our tattoo artists are state certified and have current BloodBorne Pathogens training. Everything we use is sterile, all needles are single use and equipment is opened in front of client. So safe to say it's pretty safe!

What types of payment are accepted?

Credit cards are accepted but cash is preferred.

How much does a tattoo cost?

Price can vary depending on size, location, artist, detail, etc... Our shop minimum is $80 and artists rates vary between $125-$150 per hour.

Is it ok to get tattooed while pregnant or breastfeeding?

No, we at Dark Harbor Tattoo will not tattoo you while you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Can I bring my own tattoo design?

Yes!! We specialize in custom designs and love bringing your ideas to life on your skin.

If I am under 18, can I still get a tattoo?

While some states allow minors with consent to get tattooed the state of Maine is not one of them. We will happily tattoo you on your 18th birthday with valid ID.

Can I get tattooed while under the influence?

State law prohibits us from tattooing anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Can I just walk in for a tattoo?

While most days we can accommodate walk ins, setting an appointment guarantees a certain date and time with an artist. We do require a $50 deposit on all appointment that comes off the final price of your tattoo.
