Ravi Chandra loved making art from an early age and was inspired by tattoo imagery when he was first exposed to it in his teenage years. At 17 he began his apprenticeship in his hometown of Dayton Ohio. He then moved to Baltimore where he broadened his artistic horizons with a few semesters of art school, further honed his tattooing working at a local street shop, and began to develop an interest in Eastern spirituality. Through the tumultuous events of 2020 he spent some time working on the road searching for a new home. He settled on Asheville, North Carolina, seeking a more natural and peaceful environment to further his spiritual life. Still not quite finding what he was looking for, he continued his search for the answers of life and way to change the suffering in the world. As his search intensified he came across the work of Bhagavan Das "Shug" Shyam, a spiritual tattooer and lifetime Yogi at Sat Manav Yoga Ashram in Farmington, Maine. Feeling a strong connection, he visited the Ashram in October of 2021 and immediately knew he found his new home. He quickly wrapped up his old life and moved to the ashram to dedicate his life to Yogic practice for the benefit of the world.
Ravi continues to tattoo as a visual emanation of his practice and a way to make a positive and uplifting contribution to the lives of his clients. His work also financially supports his new Yogi family and their mission to change the world through spreading the ancient wisdom of Yoga. He most enjoys tattooing blackwork ornamental, geometric, floral, and sacred imagery. As his work continues to develop alongside his spiritual practice he offers flash designs reflecting this process and as a way to promote the sacred imagery he seeks to spread. He also loves to work with clients to create unique and intentional custom pieces that will have a lasting benefit to their lives!
